Assembly operators will receive a sign-on bonus of up to $4,000, depending on the shift. There are openings for all shifts. This position also offers a solid benefits package, including health benefits, paid time off, and more.

Quarles applauds lifting of bourbon tariffs

Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles applauds the agreement reached this week between the United States and the United Kingdom which ends a 25% retaliatory duty on Kentucky bourbon and American whisky.

The tariffs were among those imposed in 2018 on certain American products by the European Union (EU) in response to the United States’ imposition of a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum from of the EU. An agreement to lift the tariffs was reached in October 2021 between the EU and the United States. However, the UK and US only finalized agreements to end the tariffs this week. Rates are scheduled to end on June 1.

Bourbon’s impact on the industry:

• Kentucky is home to 95% of the global bourbon industry. Responsible for $9 billion in annual economic output, Kentucky’s bourbon industry creates approximately 22,500 jobs with an annual payroll of $1.23 billion.

• More than 75% corn used by members of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association comes from Kentucky farms.

• Before tariffs Kentucky bourbon exports increased 98% between 2010 and 2017.

• Tariffs imposed on US spirits have lowered exports Kentucky Bourbon by 35% in 2020, with shipments to the European Union dropping nearly 50%, according to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association.
