The Association of Ukrainian Cities has called on the government to establish a fixed electricity tariff for budgetary institutions and municipal enterprises that maintain the city’s essential infrastructure.
“The rapid increase in the prices of electricity and its supply leads to a critical increase in the expenditure of local budgets for the supply of electricity to facilities in the social sphere – educational, health and social welfare establishments. The Association of Ukrainian Cities calls on the government to ensure the establishment of a fixed tariff for budgetary institutions and social enterprises that maintain essential infrastructure, ”said the mayor of Kiev, head of the Association of Ukrainian Cities , Vitali Klitschko.
According to Klitschko, in 2021, local authorities spent 2.5 billion UAH on electricity for budgetary institutions, which is 40% more than in 2020. Association of Ukrainian cities recalled.
“This situation leads to a reduction in funding for other vital expenses. There is also a threat to the uninterrupted functioning of companies that provide centralized water supply services,” Klitschko said.
On December 10, the Association of Ukrainian Cities approved an appeal to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to establish a fixed tariff for budget institutions and municipal enterprises.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Chernyshov.
